BASIC INFORMATION OF AREA

This Secretariat was inaugurated on 24^th May 2002 in a Temporary building at Valaichenai.

The New Secretariat was declared opened by Hon. Al-Haj. M.S.S. Ameer Ali (LLB) on 19^th March 2010 with the participation of Hon. S. Jawahir Saly (Member of Eastern Provincial Council) and Mrs. Nihara Mowjood (Divisional Secretary). The fund for new building was allocated by Hon. Al-Haj. M.S.S. Ameer Ali (LLB) former Minister of Disaster Relief Services under the “Mahinda Chindana Programme” of His Excellency Mahinda Rajapahsha President of Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka.

We have pleasure to express the works and Development Projects which preformed by this Secretariat by utilizing available recourse in this division.

The Batticaloa district is divided in to 14 Administrative divisions. They are Manmunai North, Manmunai Pattu, Porathivu Pattu, Manmunai West, Eravur Pattu, Korali Pattu, Koralai Pattu West, Kattankudi, Manmunai South & Eruvil Pattu, Manmunai South West, Eravur Town, Koralai Pattu South. Koralai Pattu Central and Koralai Pattu North.

LOCATION

The Koralaipattu Central, Valaichenai Divisional Secretariat is one of the 14 Divisional Secretariats in Batticaloa district. It is has divided into 09 G.N. Divisions. It is located at Batticaloa Colombo Main Street, East 280 km from Colombo, and 36 Km from Batticaloa Town on northern direction. The population of the division is with 8276 families 15923 males and 16360 females. Most people of this division are engaged in Agriculture, Business and Fisheries are occupied the second and third place respectively.
